US prepares for return of troop remains from North Korea

The U.S. is expected to send 100 wooden temporary cases to the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea to transport the remains of U.S. soldiers who perished in the Korean War.

The decision announced Saturday from the U.S. military is part of an effort by North Korea to return the remains of around 200 soldiers that died during the war.

“We are preparing to receive and transport remains in a dignified manner when we get the call to do so,” tweeted U.S. Forces Korea, the account representing military forces in South Korea.

North Korea agreed to return the remains after a summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
