A Great Falls man was killed when he crashed his car head-on into a tree, Fairfax County police said.

Police said 53-year-old Tam-Anh Chu lost control of his 1996 Toyota sedan on Braddock Road near Burke Station Road at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The car struck a concrete median and a highway sign, then ran off the road and hit a tree-head on.

Chu was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was in the vehicle.

Police said speed and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the crash, but the accident is still under investigation.
