Ex-KKK leader David Duke backs Tulsi Gabbard for president

Former KKK leader David Duke appears to have switched his allegiance from President Trump to Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard.

In several tweets over the last few days, the white supremacist claimed Gabbard, D-Hawaii, would be the candidate who puts the U.S. before Israel. He also changed the banner on his Twitter profile to endorse the Democratic congressman from Hawaii.

“Finally a candidate who will actually put America First rather than Israel First,” the banner said.

Duke previously endorsed Gabbard for secretary of state after Trump won the election in 2016. Gabbard, in response, called Duke “pure evil” and pointed out that she has Polynesian heritage.

“Dad couldn’t use ‘whites only’ water fountain,” she said. “No thanks. Ur white nationalism is pure evil.”

Gabbard, a four-term lawmaker, kicked off her presidential campaign Saturday.

Duke endorsed Trump during the 2016 campaign, telling his supporters that voting against the Republican “is really treason to your heritage.”
