Republican counsel roasted for using grocery bag as a briefcase during impeachment hearing

Stephen Castor, a lawyer representing Republicans during the impeachment process against President Trump, used a reusable grocery bag as a briefcase for the House Judiciary Committee hearing.

“We’d like to announce that we are the official briefcase maker of Steve Castor,” The Fresh Market, an American chain of gourmet supermarkets based in North Carolina, joked on Twitter during the Monday hearing. “You can fill your briefcase up with files or yummy food (our preference).”

Castor was roasted online by others for his choice of briefcase.

Castor also made headlines during the hearings when he cracked a joke about how much his wife talks during the hearing.

“She likes when I talk when she’s not around,” he said about his wife.

House Democrats held the Monday hearing in order to move closer to drafting articles of impeachment against Trump. Castor and Daniel Goldman, his counterpart Democratic counsel, testified about the impeachment testimonies that had been held in prior weeks.
