Don’t like Trump’s decision on Paris? There’s an app for that

An iPhone app has been created for President Trump’s decision last week to withdraw from the Paris climate change agreement.

The “Greenie” app was announced Wednesday for free downloads at Apple’s App Store later this month.

Its developer, New Jersey-based Micro Integration Services Inc., is billing it as a way for people to be “angry” at Trump’s decision to leave the 197-nation Paris Agreement, while taking up the fight for the climate.

“In light of our administration’s current disinterest in sustaining many climate change policies, people are angry,” said company President Glenn Smith. “We wanted to create something that would give them the tools to continue their part in the battle every day.”

“Get the app. Save the planet,” reads the marketing theme behind Greenie, which is made to educate its users with “tips and actions they can take to increase their energy efficiency and shrink their carbon footprint.”

The app calculates how much carbon dioxide its users reduce per day, as well as how much oxygen they generate and money they save by planting trees and turning off lights.

But the app also has a federal angle. It helps you plant trees under a U.S. Forestry Service program in which you can get a tree planted in your name via the federal government.

“Greenie users can have single trees, or groups of trees, planted in their name, or in the name of loved ones or family pets, and receive memorial certificates,” the company said.
