BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Former athletic director Dave Braine and multisport star Andre Davis will be inducted into Virginia Tech’s Hall of Fame.

The two are the most prominent among five to be enshrined on Sept. 7. The others are longtime athletics administrator Sharon McCloskey, track and field star Mike Sergent and women’s basketball start Amy Wetzel Doolan.

Braine, the athletic director from Jan. 1, 1988 until June 30, 1997, helped lead the Hokies into the Big East Conference and brought stability to the athletic department. He also supported Frank Beamer after the Hokies finished 2-8-1 in 1992, and the following year they went to the Independence Bowl, starting a string of 19 consecutive bowl appearances that is still going.

Davis was a star receiver when the Hokies played for the 1999 national championship.
