Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi on Wednesday predicted “unprecedented success” for the Trump administration in its first term.
“I followed all his [Trump’s] announcements through his campaign. He has a very unique personality and administration, and now I’m speaking with full confidence of unprecedented success for him,” el-Sissi told Fox News host Bret Baier.
“He is seeking the interest of the United States and the American people in a very clear manner, and a very direct manner, and a very strong manner as well.”
El-Sissi and Trump had not spoken until today at the White House for exactly two years since the two were in Cairo together.
The Egyptian leader said he believes Trump “can do things and exert effort that very few people can do. And he can succeed in so many fields that others cannot.”
While Trump has promised to cut back on foreign aid to countries, el-Sissi insisted the president reiterated his commitment to continue financially assisting Egypt with $1.5 billion annually.
“All I can say in this regard is that his excellency, the president promised to support Egypt with very strong support. And I trust his promises,” el-Sissi added.
