President Trump will swear in Neil Gorsuch as an associate Supreme Court justice early next week, the White House said Friday.
Trump is at his West Palm Beach resort this weekend, and therefore cannot swear in Gorsuch in the next few days, according to White House spokesman Sean Spicer.
“It would not be over the weekend,” Spicer told reporters on Air Force One, noting that Gorsuch will likely be sworn in on Monday or Tuesday.
Trump is set to stay in Florida over the weekend, following his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago resort home.
Gorsuch is expected to be confirmed by the Senate early Friday afternoon.
The White House has long touted the nomination of Gorsuch as a major campaign promise Trump fulfilled. The president is likely to host a full ceremony to celebrate Gorsuch’s confirmation, much like the event he held to announce the Colorado judge as his Supreme Court pick.
