POCAHONTAS, Va. (AP) — Spearhead Trails is preparing to open its second trail system in Southwest Virginia.
Spearhead Trails says the Original Pocahontas trail system will open on Friday. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine in Pocahontas.
The new system includes more than 30 miles of trails for all-terrain and off-highway vehicles. Another 20 to 30 miles of trails will be added next year.
The trail’s name honors the coal heritage of Pocahontas and the surrounding region.
