Two District teenagers were convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder for killing a man during a robbery of a dice game in Southeast Washington.
Aaron Andrews, 19, and Curtis Weeks, 18, faces maximum sentences of life in prison at their sentencing Sept. 9.
According to prosecutors, Andrews and Weeks noticed the game in the parking lot in the 1100 block of Eaton Road SE, and returned with guns and announced the robbery. One of the players started to run, and Andrews shot him in the stomach. Reggie Cook, 20, ran to his friend’s aid and got into a struggle over Andrews’ gun. Weeks then shot Cook in the chin, killing him. Prosecutors said Cook was killed on his mother’s birthday.
