Man lived in US illegally before killing CA family

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A former Indian army officer lived in the U.S. illegally for at least five years before he killed his wife, two children and himself in Central California last weekend, federal immigration officials said.

Avtar Singh, who was wanted for murder in his homeland, had been arrested by U.S. investigators for unlawful presence in July 2007, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lori Haley told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
