GREAT FALLS, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County police say a massive tree fell on a car in the Great Falls area, killing a driver who was waiting in traffic.

The incident occurred in the 9900 block of Georgetown Pike about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The victim has not been identified.

A portion of the roadway remained closed during the Wednesday morning rush hour.

The tree is old and rotted, but officials aren’t sure what caused it to fall.
