District of Columbia officials will ask the federal government for more than $100 million to support education programs in fiscal 2009, with $75 million destined for the District’s public schools and nearly $15 million apiece to school choice vouchers and charter schools, according to a draft report obtained by The Examiner.
In addition to the $104.6 million, D.C. will seek $31 million for environmentally friendly construction and school security initiatives under the auspices of the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization.
