WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro is implementing a minimum balance requirement for SmarTrip cards to enter the transit system, and SmarTrip users can add money to their cards online.
Beginning Saturday, the transit agency is requiring riders to have at least $1.20 on their SmarTrip cards to enter the Metrorail system. For riders using a senior or disabled rider card, the minimum is 35 cents.
