Spicer: Expect movement on tax reform in ‘late spring’

The Trump administration could begin working on tax reform as early as late spring, according to White House spokesman Sean Spicer.

“We are going to have tax reform after we get healthcare completed,” Spicer told an Irish newspaper, the Sunday Independent, during Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s visit with President Trump last week.

Republicans have urged Trump to take action on tax reform before year’s end. The president promised to consolidate the existing seven federal income tax brackets and slash taxes for middle-class Americans and business owners.

“I think we are looking at late spring to early summer,” Spicer said.

Trump has promised to lower the corporate tax rate to 15 percent, a move that most GOP lawmakers enthusiastically support.
