John Boehner denounces Rep. Steve King’s immigration comments

House Speaker John Boehner on Thursday said it was “offensive and wrong” for Rep. Steve King to call young illegal immigrants “drug mules,” adding to a growing bipartisan list of lawmakers to denounce the Iowa Republican for his controversial immigration comments.

“There’s no place in this debate for hateful or ignorant comments from elected officials,” said Boehner, R-Ohio, during his weekly briefing with reporters. “What [King] said does not reflect the values of the American people or the Republican Party.”
