A woman was injured in a collision between a sport-utility vehicle and a CSX train in Prince George’s County, officials said.
About 10 a.m. Tuesday, the SUV was struck at the railroad crossing at Decatur Street. The SUV and the train ended up about 30 feet north of the crossing, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS spokesman Mark Brady said.
A woman in her 30s was trapped in the SUV, and it took firefighters about 30 minutes to get equipment to the vehicle and free her, Brady said. She was taken to a trauma center with injuries that were described as serious but not life threatening.
The train was not damaged, Brady said, and Hyattsville police and CSX officials will investigate the incident.
CSX spokesman Bob Sullivan said the train was going from Jacksonville, Fla., to North Bergen, N.J., and had three locomotives and 22 freight cars.
