Florida deputy runs over woman on beach, sheriff’s office says

A Florida deputy assigned to a beach ran over a woman who was sunbathing on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy Todd Brien was speaking to several pedestrians on the St. Pete Beach when he was dispatched to a call at another location, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. When he made a right turn from his parked position, his vehicle struck Robin Diffenderfer, 23, while she was lying on her back, the sheriff’s office said.
