The New York Supreme Court ordered Tuesday that President Trump must submit to a deposition as part of a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Summer Zervos, a former contestant on “The Apprentice.”
Both parties must submit to depositions by Jan. 31, 2019, ahead of a fact discovery deadline of April 12, 2019, acting New York Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter ordered.
Trump’s lawyers, including attorney Marc Kasowitz, have already appealed Schecter’s decision to New York’s highest court, the New York Court of Appeals.
His legal counsel, however, is working with Mariann Wang, Zervos’ lawyer, to keep information revealed during the discovery process confidential, according to Politico.
Zervos sued Trump after he claimed she made up the sexual assault allegations she discussed publicly in 2016, including that the president kissed and groped her in 2007. She said Trump’s statements caused damage to her and her business.
Zervos is seeking an apology and $2,914.
Trump has denied Zervos’ accusations of sexual misconduct and said they were “false smears for personal fame.”
Trump also faces a defamation lawsuit from Stormy Daniels, the porn star who alleges she had an extramarital affair with him more than a decade ago.
