Alexandria given “most livable city” honorable mention

Alexandria was given an honorable mention in the “Most Livable Cities” 2011 awards, given out by the United States Conference of Mayors this past weekend.

Tallahassee, Fla., took the No. 1 spot in Alexandria’s category — cities with 100,000 or more. 

The awards aims to recognize mayoral leadership in improving quality of life.

Denton, Texas; Fresno, Calif.; Houston, Texas; Louisville, Ky.; and Philadelphia also beat out Alexandria for “Outstanding Achievement” awards.
