A federal jury has convicted a Latin Kings member accused of robbery and murder on rackeetering charges, prosecutors said.
Chinua Shepperdson, 28, of the District, was convicted in federal court in Greenbelt. Prosecutors say he and other gang members robbed a prostitute at a Laurel motel in December 2007 and robbed a man of cocaine, then fatally shot him, in Langley Park in April 2008.
He was convicted on charges of racketeering, robbery, using a gun in a violent crime and murder resulting from using a gun in a violent crime. Eighteen other gang members have pleaded guilty in the conspiracy, prosecutors said.
Shepperdson is scheduled to be sentenced June 17. He could face life in prison.
