Trump: ‘Interesting things are happening’ after talk with Saudi king

President Trump said Monday that “interesting things are happening,” following his phone call with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud Salman.

“Spoke yesterday with the King of Saudi Arabia about peace in the Middle-East. Interesting things are happening!” Trump tweeted.

Trump spoke separately by phone on Sunday with the Saudi king, Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.

The White House said Trump spoke with the Gulf State leaders about the situation with Qatar and “reiterated the importance of stopping terrorist financing and discrediting extremist ideology.”

Trump also restated his goals from his visit to the region in May of “defeating terrorism and promoting regional stability.”

“President Trump, nevertheless, believes that the overriding objective of his initiative is the cessation of funding for terrorism,” the White House said.
