The Manhattan grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump for an alleged hush money payment made in 2016 is reportedly going on a monthlong hiatus.
The grand jury is going on a previously planned one-month hiatus, per Politico, which would push the earliest date for Trump to be indicted to late April.

The report suggests Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is responsible for reconvening the grand jury during planned breaks if he wants them to meet earlier.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump lauded the grand jury for its inaction against him after reports had previously said he would likely be indicted by the grand jury.
“I HAVE GAINED SUCH RESPECT FOR THIS GRAND JURY, & PERHAPS EVEN THE GRAND JURY SYSTEM AS A WHOLE,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday.
“THE EVIDENCE IS SO OVERWHELMING IN MY FAVOR, & SO RIDICULOUSLY BAD FOR THE HIGHLY PARTISAN & HATEFUL DISTRICT ATTORNEY, THAT THE GRAND JURY IS SAYING, HOLD ON, WE ARE NOT A RUBBER STAMP, WHICH MOST GRAND JURIES ARE BRANDED AS BEING, WE ARE NOT GOING TO VOTE AGAINST A PREPONDERANCE OF EVIDENCE OR AGAINST LARGE NUMBERS OF LEGAL SCHOLARS ALL SAYING THERE IS NO CASE HERE,” he added. “DROP THIS SICK WITCH HUNT, NOW!”
Reports earlier this month indicated the grand jury was on the verge of indicting Trump, with the former president himself claiming that on March 18 that he would be arrested “Tuesday of next week.” He did not provide what lead him to believe he would be arrested. Trump has not been arrested or indicted by the grand jury as of March 29.
Prosecutors in Manhattan have been investigating Trump. They’re looking into possibly falsified business records concerning a $130,000 reimbursement of his then-lawyer Michael Cohen for paying off Stormy Daniels. The money was reported as a legal expense in 2016 during Trump’s campaign.
The former president is under various investigations in several different jurisdictions.

A grand jury in Georgia is investigating Trump for his alleged interference in the 2020 election in the Peach State, while special counsel Jack Smith is investigating Trump for his alleged mishandling of classified documents and involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, among other investigations.
A recent poll found most adults do not want Trump as president again, with 56% saying they believe investigations into the former president are fair.
