Kudos: Four hires and one retirement

Today’s Kudos go to four people joining professional teams, and one person who is retiring after a long career.

Christian Gallice

Occupation: Executive Chef, Hilton Baltimore

Home: Baltimore, Maryland

Achievement: In his new appointment, Gallice will direct the culinary teams for both the Diamond Tavern and the Lobby Bar, the Hilton’s two restaurants. He most recently served as Executive Chef at Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia.

Will Trokey

Occupation: Regional Sales Manager, Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association (BACVA)

Home: Washington, D.C.

Achievement: Trokey has joined BACVA as a regional sales manager. Focusing primarily on the Washington, D.C., metro area, Trokey is responsible for booking groups with 1,000 rooms or greater, serving as liaison between potential clients and the Baltimore Convention Center, and facilitating general sales account management.

Amra Elmore

Occupation: National Sales Manager, Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association (BACVA)

Home: Hanover, Maryland

Achievement: Elmore rejoins the sales team at BACVA as a national sales manager responsible for booking citywide conventions and promoting Baltimore to all convention markets on the West Coast, in the Southwest region and the association markets on the East Coast.

Ann Bain

Occupation: Written language specialist at Jemicy School of Owings Mills and Towson

Home: Baltimore

Achievement: Bain, who once worked as a remedial therapist for Jemicy in the 1970s, has returned from the Forbush School at Sheppard Pratt Hospital to Jemicy. Bain will be an essential component of Jemicy’s faculty and curriculum, particularly in the field of written language and dyslexia.

John Allison IV

Occupation: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BB&T Corp.

Home: Alexandria, Va.

Achievement: Allison will retire from his post as CEO of BB&T on Dec. 31. Chief Operating Office Kelly King will take Allison’s place. Allison will step down as chairman of the BB&T board at the end of 2009, though he plans to continue as a board member after that.
