Police have identified the two people killed in a fiery weekend crash in the Cloverly area.
Montgomery County police said 27-year-old Daniel J. Baker and 26-year-old Richard F. Scotton II, both of Silver Spring, died when their car went off the road, struck a tree and caught fire.
Baker was driving when the 2002 Subaru crashed on the 15700 block of Holly Grove Road at about 12:20 a.m. Saturday, police said.
Police said Thursday that it’s still unclear why Baker drove the car off the roadway.
The crash was one of four D.C.-area traffic accidents that left eight people dead on Friday and Saturday.
