BroadSoft acquires competitor Sylantro
BroadSoft, a Gaithersburg-based provider of voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) applications to the telecommunications industry, on Monday said it has acquired Sylantro Systems Corp., a similar provider based in Campbell, Calif.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition extends BroadSoft’s leadership in VoIP applications. BroadSoft now has development and customer operations centers in Montreal; Dallas; Bangalore, India; Sydney, Australia; Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Gaithersburg.

“Sylantro has been a strong competitor of BroadSoft for 10 years. This acquisition further advances our market and innovative leadership position,” Michael Tessler, president and chief executive officer of BroadSoft, said in a statement.

Gold’s offering free gym use for New Year

Gold’s Gym will open its doors free of charge to the public from Jan. 1 to Jan. 4 to give people the opportunity to get going on their New Year’s resolutions.

Gold’s Gym has 25 locations in Maryland, including gyms in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Owings Mills, Timonium and Glen Burnie.
