Texas Most Wanted fugitive caught in Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas (AP) — A violent gang member on the Department of Public Safety 10 Most Wanted list has been caught in South Texas.

DPS says 48-year-old John Guevara was captured in Victoria. A tip led to the Texas Mexican Mafia member who was wanted for parole violation.

Officials say the tipster will be get a reward of up to $7,500 for information that led to Tuesday’s capture of Guevara at a residence.

Investigators say Guevara has an extensive criminal history including convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, robbery, drug counts and parole violation.

Guevara was paroled in 2012. A warrant was issued for him in mid-2013 for parole violation related to a 1997 aggravated robbery in Hallettsville.
