Trump: Pelosi ‘went crazy’ when I called MS-13 ‘animals’

President Trump ridiculed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Thursday night for her stance on immigration, telling a crowd of supporters that she no longer wants him to refer to MS-13 as “animals.”

“These are evil people. This is a group of gang members. I can’t say animals anymore because Nancy Pelosi got really angry when I called them animals. I called them animals. She went crazy. I can’t do it,” Trump told a crowd of supporters during a Make America Great Again rally in Evansville, Ind.

“I can’t call them animals,” he continued, ”even though they have guns. But they don’t like using guns because it’s not painful enough. They want to slice people up, young girls walking home from school, 16 years old, and they sliced them up. They died.”

The president then recalled when he referred to MS-13 as “animals,” which prompted a disapproving response from Pelosi.

“I call them animals and Nancy Pelosi gets upset because I am talking about human beings,” Trump said sarcastically. “They don’t get it.”

The president also chastised Democrats who have called for the termination of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and said it’s those same immigration officials who go to towns that are “infested with MS-13” and rid them of crime.

“It’s like the towns are being liberated like it’s a war. And you are getting finally the enemy out of our country. The towns are being liberated from this scum,” Trump said. “So the Democrats want to abolish ICE and the Republicans want to cherish ICE. I can tell you that.”

During his speech, the president spoke of the differences between Republicans and Democrats, including their views on immigration and border security.

A vote for Republicans, he said, is a vote to back Border Patrol, ICE, and law enforcement, while support for Democrats is a vote for open borders.

“A vote for Democrats in November is a vote to erase our borders and leave innocent Americans at the mercy of hardened criminals,” he said. “That’s what will happen. We need strong law and order.”
