RAY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a collision between a truck and car during a high-speed chase has killed one person, injured three others and shut down a highway in the Adirondack Mountains.
The crash happened Thursday afternoon on state Route 86 in front of the state Adirondack Park Agency offices and near the entrance to the state police barracks in Ray Brook.
State Police Capt. John Tibbitts says one of the drivers involved in the collision is in custody. Tibbitts says the person also was involved in a property-damage accident in nearby Lake Placid.
Tibbitts tells the Adirondack Daily Enterprise (http://goo.gl/5mEbX9 ) the driver in custody was the sole person inside one vehicle.
Troopers say the highway is closed while the collision is investigated.
