David Barry Mentzer, 50, of Joppa, was sentenced to 40 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to molesting a 12-year-old Harford County boy.
Mentzer normally would have faced 10 years for the crime, according to a news release issued by Harford County State?s Attorney Joseph Cassilly.
However, prosecutors asked Harford County Circuit Judge Emory Plitt for a “sentencing enhancement” because Mentzer had prior convictions for molesting a child in Kentucky in 1981 and in Harford County in 1987.
