Sitting D.C. Council members Jack Evans and Yvette Alexander combined have spent more than $44,000 in consulting expenses during the past few months, according to the latest campaign finance reports.
Evans, who is running uncontested in Ward 2 after Fiona Greig dropped out in early November, has spent $26,000 in consulting fees to LSG Strategies and consultant Katherine Stocks from Oct. 11 to Dec. 10. LSG received $15,000 in fees and Stocks received $11,000. Evans’ campaign spent $61,312.81 total during the two-month time period.
Alexander, who has five challengers to her Ward 7 seat (four of them Democrats), has spent $18,006.50 in consulting fees of her total expenditures of $26,762.72 to three consultants over two months. George Brown received $2,000, Harold Gist received $9,900 and JPope Consulting was paid $6,106.50.
Evans’ and Alexander’s spending far outpaces that of other candidates, including other incumbents. Most other campaign finance reports for October and November showed less than $10,000 in expenses.
