Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate this week tried to brush aside comments he made in 2002 suggesting that Bill Clinton should have resigned in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, but he admitted he had issues with the episode at the time.

“I had some feelings of disappointment, back then,” Tim Kaine told KCRG on Wednesday, where he was campaigning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. “Now I’m thinking about, what do we do to help this country be strong? Past controversies don’t have anything to do with that question.”
