CNN has declined to air a Trump campaign ad that attempts to highlight Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s connections to Ukraine.
The 30-second video, titled “Biden Corruption,” seeks to highlight the former vice president’s role in getting Viktor Shokin, the top Ukrainian prosecutor, fired around the time he was investigating Hunter’s company for corruption. Neither Biden has been implicated in any illegal activities or wrongdoing.

“Joe Biden promised Ukraine $1 billion if they fired the prosecutor investigating his son’s company,” the narrator states. “But when President Trump asks Ukraine to investigate corruption, the Democrats want to impeach him.”
The video goes on to show footage of CNN personalities Jim Acosta, Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon, and MSNBC prime-time host Rachel Maddow while the narrator claims the Democrats’ “media lapdogs fall in line.”

“CNN is rejecting the ad, as it does not meet our advertising standards,” a CNN spokesperson told the Daily Beast on Thursday. “Specifically, in addition to disparaging CNN and its journalists, the ad makes assertions that have been proven demonstrably false by various news outlets, including CNN.”
Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told the Daily Beast that “it’s not surprising that they’re shielding him from the truthful advertising” because “CNN spends all day protecting Joe Biden in their programming.”
This was not the first time CNN has refused to air a Trump campaign ad. Last November, CNN, NBC, and Fox News opted not to run a campaign ad that accused Democrats of letting an illegal immigrant who had been previously deported back into the country, where he ended up getting convicted for killing a police officer.
