Feinstein: Trump told me ‘FBI needed a change’

A top Senate Democrat said Tuesday President Trump called her this afternoon to announce his plans to fire FBI Director James Comey.

“President Trump called me at 5:30 p.m. and indicated he would be removing Director Comey, saying the FBI needed a change,” Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in a statement. “The next FBI director must be strong and independent and will receive a fair hearing in the Judiciary Committee.”
