Police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run
Anne Arundel County police are searching for the driver who fatally hit a pedestrian Tuesday evening in Glen Burnie and then fled the scene. The pedestrian, 52-year-old John Junior Stewart, of Glen Burnie, later died at Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The accident occurred about 7:13 p.m. on Mountain Road, and police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a dark-colored maroon van or SUV that may be missing one of its headlights. The car also may have considerable damage to the hood, grill or bumper, police said. According to witnesses, the vehicle came to a stop just beyond the scene of the crash, then fled the scene. Police investigators determined Stewart was not in a crosswalk, and the cause of the crash “appears to be pedestrian error.” Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the department’s Traffic Safety Section at 410-222-8573.
