Lawmakers, not President Trump, deserve the blame for the failure of the American Health Care Act earlier this month and the struggle to get a new deal on a healthcare bill, Georgia GOP Sen. David Perdue said.
On CNN Wednesday, Perdue said Congress is failing in its duty to make policy and Trump, despite his promises and attempts to make a deal on healthcare, is blameless in the failure of the House GOP plan.

“I don’t think this is a failure on the part of the president,” he said. “I think this is clearly on the hands of the U.S. Congress.”
“Right now we are not operating as a cohesive unit here. We’ve got to get together — Democrats, Republicans, conservative Republicans, moderate Republicans. Everyone’s got to get together here because Obamacare’s about to collapse,” he said.
Reports indicate lawmakers are working on another iteration of the American Health Care Act to try and repeal parts the Affordable Care Act. Republicans have made repealing President Obama’s signature law a central part of their platform for years.
