One dead and eight hospitalized, including six children, in Nashville car wreck

One man is dead and an additional eight individuals, including six children, have been hospitalized following a Wednesday head-on collision in Nashville.

Michael Riley, 25, who was behind the wheel of a 2018 Nissan Sentra, allegedly drove the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Briley Parkway at around 8:30 p.m. before slamming into a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, which was operated by Yolanda Johnson, 45, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Riley was pronounced dead at the scene, and all occupants of Johnson’s vehicle, six children and one adult, were rushed to local hospitals. Johnson, a 3-month-old, an 8-month-old, and a 13-year-old are in critical condition.

Law enforcement has yet to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
