Responding to attacks leveled by his Democratic opponent earlier in the day, Donald Trump claimed Thursday that Hillary Clinton believes in “globalism, not Americanism.”
“Hillary Clinton is trigger happy, totally trigger happy,” the Republican presidential hopeful told Ohio voters at the beginning of a speech that was intended to focus on education policy speech. “She raced to invade, intervene and topple regimes. She believes in globalism, not Americanism.”
“Last night, she even falsely said no American died in Libya,” Trump recalled, referring to Wednesday’s Commander in chief forum where he and Clinton squared off for the first time. “Then she also said there’s no ground troops in Iraq even though we have 5,000 military ground personnel there right now.”
Trump also defended his opposition to the Iraq war, which he claimed to have opposed since 2004 during the forum Wednesday night.
“Here’s the bottom line, I was a private citizen. I had no access to the briefings or great intelligence surveys that [Clinton] did,” he said, referring to the information Clinton had available when she voted in favor of invading Iraq in 2003.
Trump’s response to Clinton follows both the forum Wednesday night and a press conference she held early Thursday morning, during which the former secretary of state lobbed a series of attacks against him.
“Hillary Clinton is always complaining about what’s wrong,” Trump said, shortly before shifting his focus back to education.
