Though what happened between Rihanna and Chris Brown early Sunday is still murky, some appalling details about his alleged abuse are leaking out. Law enforcement sources told TMZ the “Umbrella” singer’s injuries are “horrific,” with serious facial bruising and bite marks on her arms and fingers, and that the photos taken are “devastating proof of abuse.”
Debunking some initial reports that a weapon or object was used, TMZ says Rihanna claimed that Chris struck her with his fists.
Reports claim it was not Rihanna who called 911, but someone who heard her screaming. Allegedly, Chris stormed off on foot with the car keys, leaving his girlfriend in the rented Lamborghini, where, a source told E!, cops found her “beaten really badly and hysterical.”
“Rihanna didn’t want anyone to touch her, she was in so much pain,” added the source. Initially, she allegedly refused medical treatment, but is now cooperating with the police investigation. If he’s convicted, Chris could spend up to nine years in jail.
In the meantime, the Barbados-born beauty’s family is making arrangements for her to return home, says the E! source: “They want to keep her away from Chris right now.”
The two R&B singers had seemed like a perfect pair, even up until a sunny appearance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party on Saturday night. But apparently there was trouble in paradise leading up to the incident.
It’s not clear whether there is any future for their relationship — but we hope Rihanna sends the right message to young female fans by not taking him back.
Three-peat
Third time’s the charm? Maybe so for Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson. After not one but two tries at their tempestuous romance, the blond beauty and the Butterscotch Stallion are reportedly giving it another go.
“They’re back together,” a source blabbed to People magazine.
The couple reportedly hung out all day Sunday at Kate’s Malibu spread, along with Ryder, 5, the actress’ son with ex-husband Chris Robinson.
Originally, the “You, Me and Dupree” co-stars dated in 2006 and 2007; then they reunited for some months in 2008. The first breakup allegedly contributed to a despondent Owen attempting suicide; after the second, Kate briefly took up with his buddy Lance Armstrong. But evidently that’s all water under the bridge now.
Despite the drama, we always liked these two together. Let’s hope it lasts this time.
Shady Whitney
Whitney Houston is back! The R&B star’s performance wowed the A-list crowd at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party. And she was working the scene on awards night with younger beau Ray J. in true diva form.
“Whitney didn’t take her sunglasses off all night,” an observer at Russell Simmons’ post-Grammy party told the New York Daily News.
But while Whitney’s certainly hot enough to attract cougar bait, there’s evidently something off about her May-December romance.
“The dynamic between her and Ray J. is weird,” the gawker opines. “It was like he was out with his mother — totally different from a Demi-Ashton or Madonna-A-Rod thing.”
Well, Whitney has always had a rivalry with Mariah Carey. Maybe she’s just trying to show off with her own answer to Nick Cannon?
