Harriet Hageman, the Republican candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has hauled in over $1 million as she prepares to challenge Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney.
Included in the amount Hageman has raised so far is $745,381, which includes $443,460 raised during the third and fourth quarters of 2021 after she announced her candidacy, according to a campaign press release shared with the Washington Examiner.
“Wyoming deserves to be represented by someone who cares about Wyoming, not someone who is consumed by her own personal war with President Trump,” Hageman said in the press release.
EVEN LIZ CHENEY’S ENEMIES KNOW SHE’S A SOLID CONSERVATIVE
Hageman works as a senior litigation counsel with the New Civil Liberties Alliance, a nonprofit organization that defends against the “Administrative State” in order to “protect constitutional freedoms.” She previously ran for governor of Wyoming in 2018, receiving 20.5% of the vote, and worked as a campaign adviser in 2014 for Cheney’s senate bid and on her 2016 House campaign.
She announced in September that she was running to oust Cheney in the 2022 Republican primary and said she’s come across people in the state who “are desperate for a change.”
“Like many Wyomingites, I supported Liz Cheney when she ran for Congress,” Hageman said during her campaign announcement. “But then she betrayed Wyoming, she betrayed this country, and she betrayed me. Every time Wyomingites see President Biden fail us and harm the interests of our nation and our state, they have Liz Cheney to thank.”
Trump reportedly met with Hageman in August as he sought challengers to give his endorsement. The former president said that he was endorsing her on the same day as Hageman’s campaign announcement.

Cheney, who is up for reelection, was among the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot. Since then, she has received harsh criticism from Trump and other members of her party, in addition to being voted out of her role as chairwoman of the House Republican Conference in May.
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, reported raising $2.05 million, the most she has raised in a quarter to date. The incumbent brought in $1.5 million, $1.9 million, and $1.7 million during the first three quarters of 2021, the Casper-Star Tribune reported.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Hageman for a comment but did not receive a response back.
