LYONS, N.Y. (AP) — Testimony is underway in the double murder trial of a Rochester man charged with stabbing a mother and daughter to death during a break-in last year.
Local media report that opening statements were made Tuesday in a Wayne County court where 34-year-old Dante Taylor is on trial for the slayings of 54-year-old Terri Moulton and her 30-year-old daughter, Stacy Moulton.
Authorities say Taylor, an ex-convict, was burglarizing a neighbor’s home in the town of Sodus in July 2013 when the two women showed up to care for the neighbor’s pets. Police say Taylor stabbed both women to death, then set the home on fire.
Chuck Moulton, Terri’s husband and Stacy’s father, found the bodies after going to check why the two women hadn’t returned after three hours.
Testimony resumes Wednesday.
