Interstate 97 in central Anne Arundel was shut down forseveral hours Tuesday after a school bus overturned around 1:11 p.m., Annapolis police said.
No children were aboard, but the bus driver was injured and flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore City by a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter.
The northbound lanes of I-97 near the Crownsville exit were closed after the bus hit a car, causing a major backup.
One lane re-opened around 3 p.m., but authorities expected another shut down to remove the school bus, police said.
