Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay was arrested Wednesday after breaking a vacuum during an argument with his son’s mother.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., and the 23-year-old NFL player was arrested by local police and charged with misdemeanor criminal property damage of less than $1,000, according to a report.
“Willie was at his son’s house visiting,” Maxx Lepselter, Gay’s representative, said in a statement. “He and the mother got into an argument during which he broke her vacuum.”

The mother was the individual who called the police, Lepselter said, and the case is likely to be resolved quickly.
Gay “likely just pays a fine and replaces vacuum,” his representative added. “Nothing more, all should be resolved today with no further issues.”
The linebacker started 19 games for the Chiefs throughout the past two seasons, and his arrest comes just four days ahead of the team’s playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
