AURORA, Ill. (AP) — Police in the Chicago suburb of Aurora say they have taken into custody two suspects in the attempted armed robbery of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in which three employees were shot.

Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli says the two males — one of them armed with a rifle — entered the store on the city’s Near East Side on Thursday night at about 8:30 and demanded money. He says the gunman then opened fire, striking the employees. He says two of them are in critical condition at an area hospital.

Ferrelli says the two suspects were arrested without incident a short time later inside a home on the 1100 block of Liberty Street. He says they have not been charged.
