BOISE CITY — Cimarron County Commissioner Tommy Grazier pleaded no contest Wednesday to a felony charge of embezzling county gasoline for his personal vehicle.
Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, Grazier received a four-year deferred sentence, with two of those years to be supervised, said Sherridan Perdue, deputy court clerk for Cimarron County.
Grazier, 50, paid $163.15 in restitution to the county and was assessed $911 in court costs, which included a $500 fine, Perdue said.
Grazier was accused of taking 52 gallons of gasoline, according to Custer County District Attorney Dennis Smith, who prosecuted the case after the local district attorney stepped aside.
Grazier, a Republican from Keyes, earlier resigned as District 3 commissioner and withdrew his candidacy for re-election after the gasoline thefts were discovered.
Democratic candidate Mitchell Harriman, 60, of Keyes, is now in line for the office without opposition.
