The families benefitting from this program have been receiving checks in the mail, along with a letter from Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican.
Governor spokeswoman Christina Pushaw confirmed the authenticity of the checks and letters being sent out to families in a tweet last month.
Florida families: These letters are real. These one-time payments of $450 per child are part of @GovRonDeSantis new budget. Please see the press release from First Lady @CaseyDeSantis roundtable on Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity last week! https://t.co/wl3Uaz40vH pic.twitter.com/uAqI2Jxqo2

“This one-time payment can be used for anything from buying diapers to fueling up at the pump,” the letter from the DeSantis said.
The checks are continuing to make their way to families as the state observes a sales tax holiday for school supplies until Aug. 7 in preparation of the next school year.
