Did Kamala Harris use a French accent in Paris?

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris seemed to take on a different accent while speaking with scientists at the Pasteur Institute in Paris during her trip in France to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron.

“We campaign with the plan … the plan,” a masked Harris said, lifting her hands above her head.

Harris visited the institute’s lab, where her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, reportedly worked in the 1980s, and discussed cancer research, the coronavirus, and policymaking.

“The environment is such that we are expected to defend the plan,” Harris said. “Even when the first time we roll it out, there may be some glitches, and it’s time to reevaluate and then do it again.”

The scientists appeared unfazed by the vice president, whose domestic approval rating is 28%.

Adopting accents is nothing new for Harris, who was criticized for speaking in a southern accent during the 2020 presidential election campaign.
