Baltimore man convicted of killing police officer

A 23-year-old man with a long arrest record was convicted Friday of first-degree murder in the slaying of Baltimore Police Detective Troy Chesley.

It took a Baltimore City jury less than four hours to convict Brandon Grimes of killing Chesley in the 4500 block of Fairfax Road on Jan. 9 of 2007.

He faces up to life in prison when he’s sentenced on Oct. 21.
