Trump: GOP ‘wasting their time’ on immigration until more Republicans elected

President Trump said Friday that congressional Republicans won’t get anywhere trying to pass an immigration bill until more Republicans are elected.

“Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November. Dems are just playing games, have no intention of doing anything to solves this decades old problem. We can pass great legislation after the Red Wave!”

The House on Friday failed to pass a conservative immigration bill that included Trump’s immigration priorities, but went too far for several Republicans. A more moderate bill from Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was delayed until next week, so GOP leaders could spend more time finding GOP votes for that bill.

But it wasn’t clear that bill can pass the House, and even if it does, it’s unlikely to move in the Senate, where at least 10 Democrats will be needed to advance it.
