Thousands of people are protesting one another in Boston on Saturday.
A “free speech” rally organized by some right-leaning groups, including those who identify with the alt-right, were met by a large march of left-leaning activists, including those who champion “Black Lives Matter” and other movements.
The demonstrations are ongoing near Boston Common Park in downtown Boston.

Though Boston’s Democratic mayor, Marty Walsh, warned people on Friday to “stay away” from the “free speech” rally, reports Saturday estimated that thousands of counter-protesters were in town for a faceoff.
The competing demonstrations Saturday come one week after the violence in Charlottesville, Va., which began with a protest over the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue, where white supremacy and neo-Nazi groups clashed with left-wing counter-protesters.
Similar protests and counter-demonstrations are expected Saturday in a handful of cities across the country, including in Atlanta and Dallas.
